BackgroundEdit

Daniel was born to a British Royal Air Force Officer and a Canadian School Teacher in Burnaby, British Colombia. Their second son, the pair had meet when his father, Jeffrey Braddock, then a Wing Commander was on exchange to Canada and serving at CFB Comox. His mother, Phoebe Carrigan was a school teacher. The pair married several years after meeting and Jeffrey decided to stay in Canada, he resigned his commission, having risen to the rank of Air Commodore, and eventually became a Canadian citizen. Daniel's older brother Brian also joined the military, rising to the rank of Captain in the Navy before retiring.

Danny was raised in Burnby until he was 10, when the family moved to Victoria. Danny always knew he wanted to join the Air Force, he had been fascinated with flying since his childhood, loving the times his dad would take him up. When he was old enough he applied and was accepted, heading to Kingston to compete his basic officer training before being posted to Canadian Forces Base Cold Lake. Here he completed his fighter pilot training and was posted to 409 Tactical Fighter Squadron along with a promotion to Lieutenant.

During this time he meet Stephanie Piper, an Auction House Manager, the two married quickly and welcomed their daughter into the world the next year, and their son the year after. In 2002 he was promoted to Captain and made a flight leader. He served here for three years before being promoted again to Major and taking over as the Squadron XO. By 2009 he'd been promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and made the Squadron Leader.

In 2012 he was recruited into the Stargate Program and made the Commanding Officer of SG-14. Two years later he was appointed as the Executive Officer aboard the HMCS Borealis. The appointment strained his relationship with his family, not being able to tell them where he was or what he was doing. He had been considering retirement, or at least an Earth based posting when in May 2015 his mind was made up for him.

The Iroquois was caught off guard and attacked by a Lucian Alliance trio of Ha'tak mother ships. The ship managed to escape but was badly damaged. Dan's leg was pinned under a collapsed bulkhead and was forced to take medical leave. Surprisingly to Daniel he was promoted to Colonel, he spent his recovery time, and several months after at the Canadian Forces College in North York, Ontario. He completed the Joint Command and Staff Programme (JCSP), the Joint Staff Operations Programme (JSOP) and the Executive Leaders’ Programme (ELP).

Following this Colonel Braddock was made Base Commander of CFB Cold Lake. He served here for a year and a half before being made the Chief of Operations for the Canadian Forces Stargate Program. Two years later he was promoted to Brigadier General and made the Chief of Staff to the Vice Chief of Defence Staff.

His next posting was as the Director General of Operations for the Strategic Joint Staff (SJS) of the Canadian Forces. In 2022 he was promoted to Major General and made the Commander of the Air Assets assigned to the Canadian Task Group and de facto Commander, 3rd Canadian Air Division.
