Adam Coburn - September 9, 2012 09:35 PM (GMT) -ON-

Adam was frustrated and was about to leave when Larissa approached to him. He listened as his anger become settled. But before he could speak again this time, he wanted to see what did the others have to say for plans.

After everyone spoke he said "I think the cloak would do the work as hiding the Defiant alright but i have no idea why are we going to send probes if we are going with the Defiant. It would alert who ever is on the planet for an intruder attack. Once we arrive there with the ship we can use its sensors to scan the planet and see whats there."

And he continued "After we finish the scans we can board one or two puddle jumpers cloaked and get the device covertly and unnoticed"

"The Defiant can't be in multiple places at once, and the probes will be cloaked so they won't be seen." Aaron said. "I'm pretty sure that the Brotherhood would have security measures in place so we would need to physically take it back. That is unless the Defiant crew found it first and simply tagged it then beamed it on board which I hope could be the case." He told Adam.

The whole statement it happened so fast always had bothered Mikhail, as to him it never happened any where near fast, not even slow would describe the way the world slowed when the literal shit hit the fan. But what had just transpired had broken his life long streak of slow.

It had been a normal morning on P1X whatever they called the frigid rock that was Atlantis' home. Mikhail and a group of Marines had been working on the MCMAP, the close quarters, hand-to-hand fighting style of the USMC. Since he was rated as a trainer/instructor he was actually helping the Marines advance in their 'ranks' in the MCMAP.

But the 'normal' morning ended there, even eight highly trained Marine Corps Special Operator, were no match for even one Vanir. The Pegasus Galaxy evil twin of the Milky way Asgard. The minute the door had open, the two Marines closest to the door had been dropped, the other six had moved for their weapons, the three that managed to make it. Only managed two or three rounds before they to were incapacitated. Mikhail hadn't even made it to his weapon. The last thing he remembered in the blur of events was being blasted into a wall.

Coming too, the world was a blur, it was also spinning. “God damnit!” Mikhail groaned as he rolled onto his stomach, which made the world spin that much more. A set of boots filled his vision. “Hey Chief how ya feeling?” A younger voice asked as, Mikhail rolled slightly to look up at the speaker, “I feel like I spent a night at the bars post deployment. Глупо чертовски Ваны... He added as he pushed his chest up from the floor, Anyone know why we just got our asses kicked by the Vanir, I mean last time we saw them they were blowing up our Stargates to kill the Wraith…

The younger Marine shrugged, No clue Chief, it ain't ours to reason why,

It is ours to do and die, yes I know thank you Pillar. He finished as he was helped to his unsteady feet. How long has it been, He inquired as he checked his watch and did a check of the room, the other occupants were fine; a few minor cuts and bruises, nothing serious thank god.

Long enough Chief that the eel-tee wants your ass bad, she's been calling on the radio for at least the last ten mikes." The Private replied as he handed Mikhail his weapon and vest, "Best get going Chief."

"Yeah," He replied as he grabbed both and pushed his body as close to a sprint as he could, his feet still slightly unsteady under him as he booked it towards the closest transporter. Stepping in he dumped his vest over his head and hit the closets transporter to the gate/control room.

Dashing into the control room he spotted his CO, and came sliding to a stop. "Sorry I'm late ma'am, was incapacitated by the Vanir, I'm all up and ready to go."

Control Room

Larissa could only sigh and shake her head at what the Colonel had to say. But the vote of confidence from Bishop/Ta'Kin was nice, and she did nod in thanks to them before turning to Colonel Leonard, serious once more.

"Sir, with all due respect, my point was not that I was missing the point of what was going on, or that I think anything bad about the USS Defiant or her crew. My point was that two of our people had become excluded from this discussion when we need everyone here. And I was merely making a suggestion, nor was I aware that the Defiant had it's own cloak." Larissa replied, "However, I am in agreement on the matter of the teams. The fewer the better, especially if we get in deep, we're understaffed as it is, so we need someone on hand to bail us out. Probably best if we just hop around with One and Two on point for the op, the rest hang back."

"The way I see it, Team One handles the tech, Team Two handles the goons guarding it. Since Sergeant Havenborn is also Special Forces, that puts the odds less in their favor." Larissa grinned, "I think between the two teams, we can handle this. As we said in Spetznaz, Nobody But Us."

She turned around to see Kovac finally enter, her gaze starting to turn to a glare before softening at his explanation, walking over to slap him on the shoulder with a grin.

"Забудьте нырять?" She asked in Russian, "Chief, this is our newest addition, either perminantly or temporarily. Hopefully the former. Sergeant First Class Daniel Havenborn, formerly Army Special Forces. Sergeant, this is Team Two's XO, Chief Warrant Officer Mikhail Kovac, United States Marine Corps and formerly SGC Special Forces."

Larissa motioned for Mikhail and Daniel to step off to the side with her for a moment, before speaking to them quietly to let the others plan.

"Okay, Kruger's out, his old war wounds flared up and he's laid up for it, so it's just us three. We're going to recon out some Brotherhood bases to find a Vanir device, guess it makes stargates into black holes or something. When we find the device, we're hitting the base like a hurricane. One's handling the tech, we don't touch it. If you find it before they do, call it in, but do not touch it without their approval." Larissa explained, "The Vanir have three of our people hostage, and will supposedly return them once we get the device back. However we opt to go in, I want to still pack for a covert op, so suppressed weapons and the sort. I'm afraid I know about as much as you guys do."

"I realise this Ta'Kin and first and foremost I am an Engineer. I am doing what I can. Mister Leonard and many others here have experience and many ideas that can help us in our mission, I will hear them out before we do anything as an idea can save lives."

"You may be an engineer Commander but now you are first and foremost Commander of this base. Put your engineering to one side as now you are the one that everyone is looking up to. You have to 'call the shots'." Ta'Kin said to the Commander before answering his second statement.

"Speaking of which, maybe you could assist in doing a crash course for the teams of two or three in the Art of covert operations? Anything to help them would be greatly appreciated Ta'Kin."

"It would be an honour Commander. First thing is first we need to scrap the MALP idea. Mainly as using the Stargate could alert them or worse they could have a iris or shield like us. We have to remember that they are us so we have to think how we can outsmart ourselves. If we can find the planet I would suggest that AE-1 and AE-2 should be the only two teams that should go on the mission. Colburn is a skilled jumper pilot so getting down there unseen is the easy part. Getting in will be tricky."

Agent Michael Chambers, IOA Control Room, Main Tower Atlantis, P1X-000

"I might be of some assistance if finding the planet." Michael said as he walked up from behind the group. "The IOA has been trying to connect all our intelligence assets together. I have been working with Colonel Walker quite closely over the last few months and he had suspected to have narrowed down the two main bases of the Brotherhood in the Pegasus Galaxy."

"How are you able t..." was all that Nick could get out before Michael continued.

"To figure it out. We have our sources. M4W-7YT and M8P-7AC." Michael said as he put the files up on the screen. "The second is suspected to be their main forward base and training centre under the command of Major Seamus Rhade. They could have brought it here as there is suspected testing facilities but it would be unlikely. Also the base is believed to be in the middle of dense forest. It would be difficult to even find the base let alone get inside."

"Well what about the first one? Is that a science outpost then?"

"Well Mister Bishop. That is believed to be the new headquarters of the Imperial Brotherhood in the Pegasus Galaxy."

While the discussions about who was going where and what was happening was going on, Osian returned to the computer. He began to do a deep check into the Ancient database. He couldn't find anything. Although he didn't expect to find anything, he was still a little frustrated. Getting, he moved over to Rayner again. Sorry to barge in, the Vanir never really said if they developed the technology or if it was someone else. I'm hopping that if it is someone else, it's the loveable Asgard." Osian fained a lovey-dovey expression. "With your permission, I would like to join Carson on the Defiant and hope a search of the Asgard database might shed some light on it."

Control Room, Atlantis P1X-000

Larissa looked approvingly at Havenborn, "Alright, Sergeant, go ahead. No sense tying you up where we can't put you to good use. I'll stick with the think-tank, they'll need the voice of someone who does what we do for a living. I'm not a micromanaging type, so go with what you're comfortable with. We have everything and the kitchen sink in there."

"Also, just so you're aware, while I'm from the Russian Army and I'm the commander of this team, I feel it's better to give my team a good amount of room for personal initiative, so don't get hung up on my rank. Besides, we Russians dropped the ball on the NCO concept due to the Soviet thought process, so Lieutenants end up doing the jobs of Sergeants anyways." Larissa said with a grin, "Don't worry, I know the stories about Spetznaz, and I can assure you, I play by the same ROE as you. Even if I think the Brotherhood would do well to face a few firing squads, that's not my place."

"Chief, go ahead and take him to the armory and gear up, and set my gear out too. I'll keep you guys appraised of developments. Set me out a Val with holographic sights and magnifier, SP-6 type ammo. I think I marked those boxes with black tape. Also set out my pistol suppressor, and a VSSK rifle. I have a feeling we'll need the extra punch getting in. Take whatever you guys want, just remember the stealth parameter, so, you know, no Jumper full of Stingers and Javelins." She winked at Mikhail, before rejoining the others, catching the new arrival's explaination to Bishop/Ta'Kin.

"...into the belly of the beast then? If it's there, we might as well grab what we need, and have the Defiant level it from orbit. But that's just a thought." Larissa said.

Leonard looked at them all once more, going back to being silent and listening to them as they spoke. He gave out his personal opinion and advice, as well as stating the obvious only to be corrected by Koralov but that was fine too. He especially listened to the one called Ta'Kin and Rayner talk to each other about command. After Ta'Kin mentioned that Rayner had to 'Call the Shots', Korin decided to add one final detail to support them both.

"Rayner is right for asking for a little help due to my experience. But, you, Ta'Kin, are also correct. Rayner is in command, and should be calling the shots. Now, I'm happy to suggest ideas or make my own opinions but I have no intention to take command from anyone. I am just an observer working for Homeworld Command, I observe and file reports. But doesn't mean I can't lend a hand or two on a few things, as long as it has nothing to do with command." Korin adjusted himself on the crutches, getting a little tired standing there on one leg with his armpits on the crutches and the crutches pressing into the floor.

Korin then tapped his chin and then patted Koralov's leg with one of his crutches to get her attention. "Have you ever heard of the Stingball Grenade? Something that prison guards use in order to stop riots. And apparently the prisoners have given it a nickname, called Hornets Nest. Its a grenade like a frag grenade, but instead of metal balls inside to kill your target, it has hard rubber balls, to inflict pain but not kill." Korin then looked at everyone. "Of course it's not effective in killing, but its effective in distracting its targets. If the Brotherhood Soldiers are wearing armor...or not...one or two tosses of these grenades shall have them cringing in pain, or if they're tougher than they look...it will at least distract them.

"And do you know what happens to you if you are distracted in the middle of a war zone, hmm?" Korin asked Koralov as he looked right back at her.

Control Room, Atlantis P1X-000

"Ah...begging the Colonel's pardon," Larissa rubbed the back of her head, "But, ah, that's what flashbangs are for. And bullets. It's a nice idea, but I respectfully disagree. I have full faith in Sergeant Havenborn and Chief Kovac, as well as Team One. I have to admit, I'm not exactly impressed with the Brotherhood's tactics or training. They're cocky, poorly organized, their leaders were ineffective in their previous militaries, so they all have artificially high ranks, and as a result, they're also arrogant."

"I've faced the people they put into combat on several occasions in 2023 and 2024, when they were the Tau'ri Rebellion, as well as when they attacked the Coalition meeting. I don't think we need to resort to gimicks, sirs. The cloaks will come in handy, but honestly, where we will win the day is that we out think them. Team One, you have brilliant engineers and scientists, as well as a seasoned and skilled pilot. Team Two, we have experienced Special Forces operators." Larissa said, as she leaned against a pillar, crossing her arms.

"So. My suggestion is we plan on hitting the big facility, and if they don't have whatever the Vanir want back, we're able to scale down to hit the other facility. All else fails, we scout them both, and then, if the Defiant and her commander are willing, slag the facilities from orbit once we get what we came for. Kills two birds with one stone." Larissa suggested.

"It would be suicide to try take the base on with only the Defiant." Michael said as he changed the image on the screen to put up an image of Jessica Walker. "Jessica Walker, we know that she is in command of the Imperial Brotherhood's fleet forces so that would mean that they must have a few ships in orbit. It would be too risky to fight with just one ship."

Mister Nicholas Bishop Control Room, Main Tower Atlantis, P1X-000

"He has a good argument. We do have the element of surprise but even with that the odd would not be in our favour for a full scale attack." Ta'Kin said before Nick took control again. "Yeah not to mention we have yet to encounter their ships. How are we to know what they will have up their sleeve."

Nick was not too fond of the idea that they could complete the mission then they could die though the act of trying to take on more than they could handle. The mission was going to be difficult without thinking about trying to take out the base after.

Strolling down the corridor, Gayle had no idea what she was supposed to do. She hadn't found anybody in command and now this attack on the facility, what was going on here?

Gayle was wearing her No. 5 uniform without jacket as she was walking, without side-arm because she didn't feel it necessary. "Might as well check in." she said to herself as she passed an armoury and bumped into two NCO's.

The IOA agent just made Aaron's day as the Australian had something certain to go on. The Brotherhood's headquarters would likely be where they would keep the Vanir device. Their scientists and technicians were probably working on it right now. Aaron needed to get the Atlantis expedition on the move.

"Quiet!" He shouted.

Normally he didn't like shouting but he needed everyone to stop and listen. "Okay now we have the location most likely to be where the stolen device would be and we have the Defiant to take us there, under cloak of course."

He turned to Osian. "Permission granted Mister ap Owain, we'll all be joining you soon anyway. Gear up and beam up."

Aaron faced Larissa. "Lieutenant have your team fully geared for infiltration in one hour then head up to the Defiant."

He gestured to his own team members. "Guys please do the same, I'll join you in a moment."

Aaron turned to the IOA agent and Colonel Leonard. "Sirs, I realise I cannot order you to do anything so I request you both join us for this mission. I'm sure you can help along the way. Though I think it should be wise you alert Homeworld Command and the IOA about this as they could send us assistance Mister... Sorry but I didn't catch your name."

The Australian gestured to the IOA agent.

Gayle Scott - September 17, 2012 08:48 PM (GMT) Typically when a person, or persons saw a large 200 plus pound Marine Corps Special Operator coming down the hall at high speed one would typically move to the side, but then again, you always had those that didn't always follow common sense. Mikhail barely felt the impact, but the cursing he sure did hear.

With her 110 pound dripping wet, she hit the deck hard, "Did someone get the number of that fragging bus?" she asked as she got her head up from the deck.

Planting his heels Mikhail skidded to a stop and turned around looking down at the woman on the ground, even worse the officer he'd just shoulder checked into the deck. Hard. "О, черт, только не это." He said in Russian before switching to English, "I'm really sorry there ma'am, I didn't see you there." He added extending his hand to help her up.

Gayle grabbed the hand and felt herself being lifted up from the ground. "That seems to happen around here." She said sourly. "So what's with the battle rattle, Chief?" She asked, looking at the two men in full battle gear.

"We got hit, were gonna hit back." He replied, not sure, who the woman was or what he could tell her.

"I see." She stretched her neck, it cracking from the fall. "Any idea where I could find AE-3?" She asked, looking up to the warrant officer.

"As far as I know, we don't have a three at this time." He said checking his watch under his sleeve, "As far as I know, it's just us on two and who ever on one that is still around. Sorry, lieutenant.'

Gayle looked surprised and checked her sleeve, having the AE-3 badge there. "Guess I'll ask Colonel Tenjin, if I can find him or the command room." She sighed, hating this city but loving it at the same time

"Colonel isn't in either," Kovac said stepping away, "It's Commander Rayner, he should be in the control room. We can take you there we are headed that way."

"Lead the way, Chief." She said, gesturing for him to go ahead as she was ready to follow.

Kovac stepped off again in the direction of the nearest transporter, which was neither a long nor short walk. "New to the station, Ma'am?" Kovac asked as they entered the transporter

"Just got in a couple days ago. Pretty much spent that time setting up my lab, quarters and getting chow. Haven't even had the chance to meet my team." She answered as she had a bit of a problem keeping up with the big Marine.

"Ah." Was all he said, it wasn't that he didn't like her, it's just he didn't do sciencey types. "So i'm guessing your the new AE-3 team lead?"

"You're guessing correct. Technical support and scientific support team." She explained, looking around. "I wonder how all this works..."

"Couldn't tell you ma'am," He replied stepping from the other side as they were transported whole of the station. "He'll be through there." Mikhail said point as he hefted the bag with the El-Tee's gear and headed towards her.

Gayle looked around and approached the Australian. "Excuse me sir, Lieutenant Gayle Scott, Royal Canadian Navy, AE-3 CO, reporting in for duty."

JP With Kovac

This JP and that with Havenborn are supposed to be the other way around.

Daniel Havenborn - September 17, 2012 09:20 PM (GMT) "Chief, go ahead and take him to the armory and gear up, and set my gear out too. I'll keep you guys appraised of developments. Set me out a Val with holographic sights and magnifier, SP-6 type ammo. I think I marked those boxes with black tape. Also set out my pistol suppressor, and a VSSK rifle. She winked at Mikhail. Chuckling he waved for Havenborn to follow him, "Let's go Sarge, I'd rather not get the eel-te up my ass? Oorah?"

"Hoo-rah Chief Warrant Officer." Daniel said. He was itching to get off planet now, see some action again it had been far too long for him. "I'm looking forward to this operation Chief Warrant Officer, last time I was involved in a combat operation was back on Earth, going on a few years now." Daniel said.

"Call me, Chief, Gunner, or just Kovac, don't worry about the whole rank, it annoys me Sarge." He replied as he stepped into a transporter and tabbed the one closest to the main armory. "So tell me, life story, short and sweet. Ranger and Special Forces, right?"

"Basically Chief, started in Special Forces then went on to Drill Instructor and then on to Rangers and back to Special Forces before I joined the SGC as a guard and escort. Got my acceptance into the actual program a few months ago and here I am." Daniel said, "As for rank, sorry about that; it's a holdover from my Drill Instructor days." Daniel said.

"Yeah, I hear ya, I did my time in hell at Ranger School, I have my tab. Ironically enough." Mikhail added just before they were beamed to the whole other side of the city sized station. Stepping out the other side, "I did my time in MARSOC, so I hear ya, as for the rank don't worry about it. It is what it is."

"Did you ever see any action on Earth Chief?" Daniel asked. He had seen much of the Earth during his time with the US Army.

"Plenty, did my time in the Middle East, saw some time in Central Europe, some time on the African continent, and plenty of time on the home front." He replied as he waved his way into the armory, "Got shot up plenty of times by our own people so I’ve done my time in hell."

"Same here." Daniel said, "Well except for the being shot at by our own people unless you count the training I had to do for the Stargate Program" He said as he chuckled at that. He followed Chief Kovac into the armory and looked around, looking for a few specific weapons in particular.

"Go nuts Sarge, this is my candy shop, I'm an Infantry Weapons Officer, so I'm going to grab the El-tee's gear picked up, and remember we’re hunting bear, quietly today." He said as he turned towards the section of the room.

"As long as you've got Heckler and Koch weapons I'll be a happy soldier." Daniel said, his unit had been a big fan of H&K weaponry going so far as to pay for weapons for the entire unit. Daniel had committed roughly 50% of his pay to help out.

Daniel made his way over to an assault rifle section and looked around, after a minute of searching he found what he was after. A G36C, he grabbed it off the rack then made his way over to another section. "Do you have an particular weapons you like Chief?" Daniel asked.

Mikhail shrugged, "It really depends on what we need to do, I've run and like everything from the SOCOM II and the Mk14 EBR, to the FN SCAR-H PDR and P90, was never all that good at that long ranged combat though, I prefer the up close work." He replied as he began to select the weapons and ammo the El-Tee had requested, and began to place them on a table, he dug a gear bag from under the table and slapped it on top. "By the way I doubt well have any real QRF or overwatch for this so, as much ammo and other goodies as you can."

"Not a problem for me, I'm used to doing missions with no QRF, some of my more clandestine operations in Afghanistan involved no more than my squad and I, no support of any kind." Daniel said, he was still under oath to not divulge any information of the said missions. Daniel thought about the stories that both he and Chief Kovac could share amongst them. "I myself prefer H&K weapons. My unit used to replace all our weapons with H&K weapons paid for out of our own pockets no less."

"Good," Mikhail said turning around to eye ball the Army Special Operator, "Any chance you're good with a heavy weapon, say the 240 Lima or the Mark 48?"

"I'm rated as a Marksman on Machine Guns but I haven't fired one, short of an M2 in several years." Daniel said. "I personally was going to grab a G36C, UMP and my USP Tactical. The G36C would be used for when we go loud, the UMP and USP for stealth work." Daniel added on.

"I guess, i'll take one just in case, in that case." Mikhail replied as he moved over and grabbed an Ultimax Mk 5, the 150 drum mag made it the ideal choice for this mission, not to mention the recoil reducing stock, the bipod-forgrip, and holosite with magnifier. "If you’re going to roll .45 I might as well too, keep ammo the same." He mused as he moved across the room looking for a Kriss Super-V.

"I was trained on the M9 just like you were but when I was introduced to the USP Tactical I fell in love with it. .45 Caliber, 12 rounds, a perfect weapon for special operations units like ours." Daniel said as he picked up a UMP and some magazines for it, he laid the gear out on the table nearby and began looking for grenades. "Flashbangs and Frags?" He asked Kovac.

"Flash bangs and Frags, might be smart to take a few phosphorus and smoke, blue and white, if we need some quick concealment." He replied as he picked up a Kriss SUPER V and looked it over quickly, it was a solid SMG, .45 caliber and could be fired one handed in a pinch. The ones issued to Atlantis, had foregrips, silencers, tactile light/laser combos, and holosights again. He walked it back over to the table and laid out his kit, ammo for both the Mk.5 and the Kriss as well as his side arm, the MEU(SOC) having swapped out his Glock for the standard issue, Marine Special Operations side arm. "Any other suggestions/ideas on kit, Sarge?"

"Is there by chance an M320 just lying around here?" Daniel asked, he could attach it to his G36C and add some more firepower to the mix.

Mikhail looked up from his and the El-Tee's gear, and pointed over his shoulder. "Should be over there somewhere." He replied as he went back to loading and preparing the weapons.

Daniel nodded and went back to where Kovac and pointed, it took a moment to find one but there were a few he grabbed one and brought it back to the table. "There we go, now we got some additional firepower." Daniel said.

"Too bad, we can't have a jumper swoop in last minute and unload enough ass kick, to level a very, very large city block." He said more to himself chuckling as he finished his preparations and dropped his plate carrier over his head and secured his weapons to his body.

"A jumper?" Daniel asked as he began putting together his equipment and weapons attachments.

"Puddle Jumper, it flies through the gate, it's not our tech that’s for sure. But it's hella fancy."

"Ah, so that's what those aircraft I saw in the Defiant's hangar bay were, I took a little tour while I was onboard but never got the chance to ask about the onboard craft." Daniel said as he attached the M320 to his G36C, it took a moment to make sure it was properly attached before moving on to find a suppressor for the UMP and for his pistol.

"Yeah, they are great in a pinch, they have good amount of fire power and the fact that they can, disappear, not like a stealth air craft, like the 35 or the 22 but just gone. It's amazing." He replied as he took one last look around the armory as he did a quick self pat down making sure he had everything he needed. He then did a quick jump test to make sure he didn't rattle, once he was done, he motioned for Havenborn to come over and do the same; he knew the man was a solid operator. It was just one of the things he always did.

Daniel walked over to Kovac, so that he could help him. "How is that possible?" Daniel asked as he jumped up so Kovac could make sure his gear was in place and not rattling.

"Not my area." Kovac laughed, "I was never that smart, but oh well. I'm good at other things. Like shooting things." He said raising his eyebrows, "You're good to go, let’s get back to the gate room."

Daniel nodded and tapped his pistol four times with his right hand, it was something that he had done since he had joined the Special Forces community and he considered it to be a good luck charm as he had always come back. "So this Brotherhood, are they good at combat?" Daniel asked as they left the Armory

"Let's just say they've taken some of our best, and they play them against us. They at one time were all members of a Gate Alliance Military."

"Good, I'd hate to get all dressed up for nothing." Daniel said as he got himself ready mentally, it had been a long time since he had fought on the battlefield but all his regular instincts were coming back to him the closer they got to the Gate Room.

"Amen Sarge, alright head on up to the gate room, I’ll be on your six, just need to square away some last minute things." He replied.
